 We are so excited to announce that in the Summer of 2025, the Quantock Heritage Group (QHG), with funding from the North Petherton Town Council, will be visiting the town to begin a multi-year project, uncovering its history in a way that has never been done before.

Join us on March 6th at the North Petherton Library for a special presentation where we’ll reveal the details of this ground-breaking initiative. While we can’t share all the surprises just yet, we promise an evening filled with fascinating insights into North Petherton’s past and the plans for this exciting community archaeology project.

This multi-year endeavour aims to bring together local residents, history enthusiasts, and archaeology experts to explore and document the stories hidden beneath our feet. With interactive sessions, community digs, and opportunities for everyone to get involved, the North Petherton Test Pitting Project is set to transform the way we connect with our heritage.

The presentation will offer a sneak peek into what’s to come, including:

 We are thrilled to be officially launching the Quantock Heritage Group during this event, giving attendees the opportunity to become the founding members of our club. 

As a member, you’ll have access to exclusive project updates, volunteering opportunities, and the chance to help shape the future of this unique endeavour. This is your opportunity to get onboard and play a part in uncovering the hidden stories of our community.

We’ll also be inviting representatives from other heritage and archaeology groups in the area, with the hope of fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing for future projects.

 This presentation will be a free, ticketed event to help us manage attendance numbers and ensure we have plenty of tea and biscuits to go around!
